Immature Stages of Signiphoridae

Detailed information on immature stages of Signiphoridae is being acquired.  However, Clausen (1940) noted that the egg of Thysanus elongatus Gir, a external hyperparasitoid of Pseudococcus maritimus Erichson, is 0.22 mm. Long X 0.07 mm. in max. Width, elongated oval in form, and slightly curved.  They bear a distinct peduncle at the anterior end.  The egg is very large in relation to the size of the parent female, which measures only 0.7 to 0.9 mm. In length.  The meconium is case upon completion of larval feeding, and a portion of it serves to attach the tip of the abdomen of the pupa to the wall of the cell.
